Instruments Wanted

Violin traders need a supply of old violins, just as any other antique dealer needs a changing stock. I recommend that anyone who is unaware of the value of an old instrument should always seek at least two opinions before selling - but I am just as willing to make a straightforward offer for an old violin, viola or cello as anyone else.

Secondhand school violins are not really my market, but I am always on the lookout for old instruments - even ones which have not been used for a long time and are in need of restoration. I have an advantage over the general public here, as I can recover the VAT element of the restoration costs. Please bring me instruments in the same state as you find them.

I can purchase most instruments immediately, but if the item is simply too expensive for me I can probably sell it on commission or advise you how best to dispose of it.
